Since October last year the HighTide team have been busy reflecting on our first ever HighTide Festival in Walthamstow, London, as well as de-briefing on our eleventh festival in Suffolk, alongside launching our new script-reading service Sparks to try and engage with even more writers, and more.
We are delighted to confirm that we will be returning to the beautiful seaside town of Aldeburgh again to present the HighTide Festival in Aldeburgh from 11 – 16 September, and we can’t wait to bring some fantastic plays, comedians, family shows, brand new play readings, talks and more to the lovely venues throughout the town. We’ll be announcing the whole programme and going on sale on Friday 25th May so do stay tuned. We are very excited to continue our partnership with the East Coast Cafe (seriously, if you haven’t been for lunch or dinner there yet you must!) as well as visiting our old haunts including Ye Olde Cross Keys for a drink and chats by the fire, stellar fish and chips from the Golden Galleon or Aldeburgh Fish & Chip Shop, and the most delicious sweet treats from the IceCreamery, where you can pick your favourite treats and watch them being mixed in to yummy ice cream!
After the success of last years inaugral HighTide Festival in Walthamstow, and with audiences describing the festival as ‘local and fun’, we are thrilled to confirm we will be returning to ‘the stow’ for 2018! We’ll be bringing a temporary theatre, food and drink to the Town Square again from 18 – 30 September as well as using some of the gorgeous venues in the town for more performances, events and discussion. We loved working with the fantastic team at Waltham Forest Council and all of the brilliant local businesses and artists last year, and can not wait to keep working with them, as well as even more partners. With the build up this year we can’t wait to return, and keep that buzz alive for it to grow into something spectacular in 2019 when Waltham Forest will be the first ever London Borough of Culture.
