Playwriting and the Community with Molly Taylor

Workshop Overview:
During this session, Molly will explore the role of the playwright in community and participatory settings, sharing her own vast experience of the sector. Whether you’re interested in working in education, youth theatres; or creating work in collaboration with community groups, using lived-experience as the source material – this workshop will unlock the power of playwrights working in the community.
Who Should Attend?
Ideal for writers and performance-makers at all stages, already working in, or interested in working in community settings.
How do I access the session?
This workshop will take place online via zoom. You will receive a link to access the session via email roughly 3 hours before the start time.
Will I need to bring anything with me?
This is a practical session and you may be asked to write during the workshop, so please have whatever you need with you like a notebook, laptop or dictaphone.
Working online
We know that excess screen time can be difficult for some people. The session will include a comfort break roughly half way through. Please feel free to keep your video on or off depending on what setup suits you best. A recording of the workshop, and any will be made available to participants after the session.

About Molly
Molly Taylor is a playwright and theatre-maker from Liverpool, UK. Her plays include; Old Times (NT Connections), The Wave (Almeida), What Was Left (Southwark Playhouse), Cacophony (Almeida / The Yard), Love Letters to the Public Transport System (National Theatre of Scotland).
Her one-woman play Extinguished Things enjoyed a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe 2018, and won a Critics Circle Award at the Adelaide Fringe 2019.
Molly has worked extensively in the participatory sector, making original performances inspired by the everyday. Projects include; The TFL Keyworker Play (Almeida), Sinder (Dundee Rep), See Me Now (Young Vic), Philoxenia (Bush Theatre), Me for the World (Young Vic Taking Part).
She has also worked as a Dramaturg & Writing Mentor at the National Theatre and The Lyric.
