Alexi Kaye Campbell, Elizabeth McGovern and Ben Miles in conversation about making theatre, film and television.
Alexi Kaye Campbell is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter whose latest play Sunset at the Villa Thalia premiered at the National Theatre this year. Arguably Alexi‘s most successful work, The Pride, premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in 2008 in a production directed by Jamie Lloyd before enjoying a New York transfer and multiple productions worldwide. The Pride which won the Critics’ Circle Award for Most Promising Playwright; the John Whiting Award for Best New Play; an Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre; and a GLAAD Award for Best New Play, was also revived in 2013 for a West End Run and a national tour. Alexi‘s other plays include ApologiaThe Faith MachineBracken Moor; and Sunset at the Villa ThaliaAlexi has also written for screen. His debut film Woman in Gold premiered in 2015 and was the highest grossing independent film of that year.

Elizabeth McGovern is an American film, television and theatre actress. Most recently known for her role as Cora Crawley in the drama series Downton Abbey, Elizabeth has appeared in a multitude of films including Ragtime where here portrayal of Evelyn Nesbit earned here an Academy Award nomination. Other motion picture appearances include Once Upon a Time in America; Racing with the Moon; the Handmaid’s Tale and Alexi Kaye Campbell’s debut film Woman in Gold On stage Elizabeth has also enjoyed appearances at the Young Vic, The Donmar, Chichester Festival Theatre and the Old Vic and many more in both the UK and the US including Sunset at the Villa Thalia.

Ben Miles is an English actor best known for his starring role in the comedic television series Coupling. Ben has enjoyed major roles in a variety of film presentations including Woman in Gold; V for Vendetta; and Ninja Assassin. His other roles in television have included Black Mirror; Zen; The Promise; and Pulse. On stage Ben has appeared in Alexi Kaye Campbell’s in Sunset at the Villa Thalia‘s at the National Theatre; in Measure for Measure at the Almeida; and in Richard II at the Old Vic.
