HighTide Academy Presentation

From 15th September 2017
HighTide Festival Aldeburgh 2017

Supporting emerging and new playwriting talent is at the core of HighTide. The HighTide Academy is our scheme for young writers aged 25 and under who have a passion for writing and a strong interest in making a career of it. This year, we have launched multiple HighTide Academies to reach a number of budding playwrights.

Firstly, we invited writers from across the country to join us in London for a weekend of writing workshops, led by guest session leaders including HighTide Alumni writers Elinor Cook, Vickie Donoghue and Theresa Ikoko.

Secondly, we have been working with New Wolsey Theatre to deliver workshops to young writers based in and around Suffolk.

Following these workshops, each writer has been invited to submit a short play to HighTide. A selection of these plays have been chosen to be performed as rehearsed readings at our Academy Presentation.

The plays selected from our National Academy will be performed by a company of actors from Chichester Festival Youth Theatre who we are delighted to be working with again this year. The plays selected from our Suffolk Academy will be performed by members of the New Wolsey Youth Company.

Join us for the Academy Presentation which will showcase some of the work that has come out of our HighTide Academy scheme. This is an exceptional opportunity to support young talent, and to see brand new work by brand new writers, presented for the very first time.

Running time: 1h 30m

In association with Chichester Festival Youth Theatre and New Wolsey Theatre.
