Preview production: Bush Meat

31st May 2017
HighTide Festival Aldeburgh 2017

HighTide presents a preview production of Bush Meat by Jon Barton.

“Ebola? Who cares. It is the backbone of a beggar’s life. I am done begging.”

Sierra Leone, 2014. A government nurse is caught between two fires when the arrival of Ebola provokes a family feud. As tensions simmer and the crisis comes to a head, fragments of memory reveal themselves and truths buried in the past slowly begin to unravel.

This is a semi-staged performance of a production that will feature as part of HighTide 2018.

We welcome your feedback on this early draft to help the development of the scripts.

Jon was one of the writers of the Old Vic New Voices 24 Hour Plays, and also appeared at the Old Vic New Voices Festival. In 2013, Jon was selected for the Kudos/Bush Theatre Writers’ Scheme and recently developed his first feature film with the BFI and Creative England.
