That Something Exists (Walthamstow)

31st May 2017
HighTide Festival Walthamstow 2017

Every HighTide production and play reading starts life as a commission, and we find our writers through an annual programme called First Commissions. We work with 6 writers who are paired with our Associate Artists to develop an idea from conception to full production – two of which are produced for performance at a HighTide Festival.

HighTide First Commissions presents a reading of That Something Exists by Nina Segal.

A four-hander with two performers about itching, invisible disease and the act of belief – and how we ever manage to cross the distance between ourselves, our bodies, our brains, and everybody else.

Nina Segal is a playwright based in London and New York.  Productions include: Big Guns, directed by Dan Hutton (Yard Theatre, 2017); In The Night Time (Before The Sun Rises)directed by Ben Kidd (Gate Theatre, 2016); and Becky and Lucy, created with Built for Collapse (New Ohio, NY, 2017/18).  Works in development include: That Something Exists (Bushwick Starr Reading Series, 2017; HighTide Festival, 2017); and  Teen Hamlet (in development with the Bush Theatre). Nina has been a finalist for the Yale Drama Series Prize 2016 and the Adrian Pagan Award 2015 and is currently attached to the HighTide First Commissions scheme.
