The Path

9th March 2016
HighTide Festival 2016

“Reckoned by physicians to be one of the most healthy places along the eastern shore, and as remarkable for repeated instances of longevity.”

In the 18th century, Aldeburgh, then a decaying seaport, gave way to titled families. The smugglers were moved on, superior houses and the iconic town steps were built, and new pathways were created. Then the tourists came, and with them centuries of comings and goings concerning all types of affairs.

The Path gives life to secret histories in Aldeburgh, both real and imagined. It is composed of seven short plays designed to be listened to through headsets in locations throughout the town.

The Path has been created through a unique process of seven HighTide alumni writers being resident in Aldeburgh through 2016. The writers are representative of a decade of extraordinary literary talent working at HighTide: Luke Barnes, E V Crowe, Vickie Donoghue, Thomas Eccleshare, Ella Hickson, Harry Melling and Vinay Patel.
