The word I would use to describe the role of Development Manager at HighTide is joyful. It’s tricky to pick just 3 reasons to apply for this role but here they are!
Reason 1 – The Organisation
- HighTide is such a uniquely placed organisation. As we don’t have a building, it means we can be agile, dynamic and respond quickly to the needs of our beneficiaries: writers from the East of England.
- HighTide truly lives its mission, vision and values. So if you want to work for a company that is inclusive and kind, and made up of people who truly care about new writing in the East of England then look no further!
- It’s a really exciting time to join HighTide, as we’re approaching our 21st anniversary. So you can work closely with our Artistic Director & CEO, Titilola, to create and launch a successful campaign!
Reason 2 – The People
- HighTide is so lucky to have such incredible supporters, including those on the Board and the Development Council. The wealth of knowledge, expertise and passion that these people bring to their roles is incredible.
- Those who are Friends to HighTide are so enthusiastic about supporting new writing and that is simply infectious.
- The communities we work with are inspiring. From primary school children writing their first story to playwrights writing their first commission, being able to see first-hand that progression in confidence and in craft is utterly fulfilling.
- Finally, the HighTide staff team. We are a small but mighty team, and really support each other to do our best work. Despite being the “sole fundraiser”, I have never once felt like I am doing the job alone. Titi, George, Hannah and Harry are the most supportive, hard-working and brilliant colleagues.
Reason 3 – Career Development (there’s never a dull moment!)
- There is so much room to grow in this role and make it your own and many opportunities to be creative and come up with new ideas to engage supporters.
- The variety of work in this role means you can develop skills in multiple income streams, rather than feeling the need to specialise.
- You will be surrounded by fundraising experts who can support you, including your Board mentor and members of the Development Council.
I have absolutely loved my time at HighTide and I am very excited to see what HighTide achieves next with a new Development Manager in post. Wishing all applicants the best of luck (or rather, a lot of broken legs!).
