My Story: Lowestoft Recordings go Live

Posted on July 13th, 2026

Back in April we started working with a new group of community writers to craft their own original stories inspired by and set in the place of Lowestoft.

I felt really honoured that the group trusted me to lead them throw this process; especially as many of them hadn’t written before the start of the project. Keeping things gentle to begin with I put them through a range of different exercises including a physical map of personal geography, and storyteller “speed-dating.”

In the final workshops, the writers then recorded their stories and Sound Designer Elenor Isherwood edited them into self-contained audio stories which premiered on the beach at the First Light Festival in Lowestoft.

Alongside legacy exhibitions of the work at East Point Pavilion and the Seagull Theatre, you can listen to them online by clicking here.

What felt the most rewarding about this project was giving people the space and confidence to tell their stories; and see the pride they felt being able to share them with the world.
