My Story: Lowestoft

George is a theatre maker, educator, and practitioner. Initially training at East 15 Acting School, he co-founded Above Bounds Theatre Collective with Helen Bovey in 2013. As Co-Artistic Directors they produced shows and workshops for young audiences aiming to break down barriers to arts engagement including location, language and cost.

He completed a master’s degree in Playwriting Studies at the University of Birmingham in 2017 and since 2020, has lectured in Playwriting at East 15 Acting School and continues to mentor emerging writers from the programme.

Having worked across different art forms and with people of all ages and backgrounds, George underpins his practice with the idea that everyone, everywhere has a story to tell.

Matt Coomber-Such is a performing arts photographer based in Cromer, Norfolk, whose work is shaped by a lifelong connection to theatre and live performance. Before becoming a photographer, Matt built a successful career in the theatre, spending more than fifteen years working as a lighting designer and technical manager.

His journey into photography began through a desire to document his own productions. Frustrated by the challenge of finding photographers who truly understood the complexities of live performance and stage lighting, he picked up a camera and started capturing shows himself. What began as a practical solution soon developed into a passion and, ultimately, a career.

Today, Matt specialises in photographing theatre, dance, music, and live events across Norfolk, Suffolk and the UK. Working alongside many creative arts organisations, Matt is particularly interested in the stories that emerge through live performance, and preserving moments that would otherwise disappear. Working in a documentary style, he aims to capture events as they unfold naturally, creating honest and authentic images that reflect the atmosphere, emotion, and energy of live performance.

Charlie Hendren is a dancer/actor/musician/ movement director and teacher. He has worked for years touring dance and theatre productions both nationally and internationally; and now teaches for DanceEast and in schools across Norfolk. He has worked in dance theatre children’s theatre, site specific and community projects and with hospitals such as Great Ormond Street. He is also the narrator for Peut-être Theatre’s award winning podcast ‘Audiomoves’.

Ellie Isherwood is a sound designer, composer, actor / musician and synth-pop artist (BYFYN). Her “dynamic” and “quietly ground breaking” work spans musicals and straight plays alike, embracing an array of forms from site-specific theatre to immersive binaural audio experiences.

This year, Ellie was made the Associate Artist for The New Wolsey Theatre and was selected as a finalist for the prestigious Stiles and Drewe Best New Song Prize with her song “Nice Girls Never Win” from the upcoming new musical, “VAMP“.

Recent work includes performance and composition for the stage adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s “The Dark” and composition and sound design for “Dweeb-a-mania” at Polka Theatre.
