About the Project
HighTide Summer started on Saturday 26th June at the First Light Festival, Lowestoft. Here, HighTide shared the world premiere of Ben Wetherill’s short audio play MY SUMMER IN PAKEFIELD performed by Amanda Abbingdon (SHERLOCK, MR SELFRIDGE).
Summer of Love was a project made in partnership with Access Community Trust in Lowestoft. Young people aged 15-24 from Access’ Place of Pride group worked with playwright Ben Weatherill to create their own audio plays celebrating different types of love and relationships. These were then brought to life with a soundtrack composed by Nicola Chang. These audio plays were shared on the BBC Belongings Radio show on BBC Radio Suffolk and as part of our Inventing the Future Festival.
For some of the participants this was their first experience of creative writing, we hope you enjoy what they’ve come up with!
