Hazel Fattorusso
Playwright
Hazel is a playwright from the East of England. She began writing plays again, after a long break, in her 40s. Her one-act play Blueberries For The Rainbow was staged at the Bread and Roses Theatre, London, in December 2023 and nominated for the London Pub Theatres Standing Ovation Award.
Hazel loves to write strong, complex female characters, using comedy to address serious issues around femininity, sisterhood and motherhood.
Hazel is passionate about the use of theatre to address societal issues and its power to give a voice to those often unheard.
Writing credits include The God Of Vaginas and Childbirth (The Platform, Bread and Roses Theatre), How to Put a Nappy On (Pocketful Projects, Haywire Theatre Company), Cake by the Ocean (Page to Stage, The Water Rats Theatre), Blueberries for the Rainbow (RReads, RCreative & The Bread and Roses Theatre) and Taste Like Home (Heritage-funded Audio Trail).
Hazel was long-listed for Voices From Home by Broken Silence Theatre and reached the second round of the 2023 Papatango New Writing Prize.
Hazel is also a Script Reader for London Playwrights Blog.
