We programme new writing. To us, this means original work, previously unperformed, that speaks to the world we live in now.
We’re a touring theatre company, so the plays we produce must be flexible and resonate with communities across the east and beyond, touring from rural locations and into major cities.
And how do you work with writers?
To reach as many writers as possible across our region, we have a range of writer development opportunities running year round, held under the banner of HT Studios. These include Playwrights East – a series of workshops and masterclasses held online and in-person; the Jerwood HighTide Writers Group; Story Worlds – our primary school literacy and performance programme; My Story; and our Associate Artist programme.
We also have….
10 Plays 10 Days
A quarterly opportunity to have Titilola Dawudu read and note your full length script. This is exclusively for Playwrights East members. Make sure you are signed up here.
Supported by HighTide
A bespoke package of support and care for your productions and projects that may include in-kind dramaturgy, marketing support, climate dramaturgy, and support with funding applications.
In Association with HighTide
Working in association means that we support a writer and their play by making a small contribution to their R&D or production, working alongside other partners and lead producers.
Seeing work
We receive lots of invitations to see productions and rehearsed readings of plays. Wherever possible a member of the team will attend. Please email [email protected] at least 3 weeks prior to your reading. As we are committed to supporting writers from the east of England (Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, or Cambridgeshire) please make it clear what your connection is when getting in touch.
