Ana Inés Jabares Pita

Design

Ana Inés Jabares-Pita, has earned two stage design awards. The first for her design for Sappho… in 9 FragmentsBest Set Design Award at the Fringe Theatre Festival in Ottawa. The second was prestigious UK Stage Design award for emerging designers, The Linbury Prize. She was announced as the Overall winner for her design proposal of The Driver’s Seat for The National Theatre of Scotland. It was premiered in 2015 with great reviews, in this occasion Ana Inés designed set, costume and video.  Her work crosses a range of genres: opera, ballet, theatre, installation and film.  She also have an extensive grounding in music which make her became interested in sound as part of the scenography.

In 2014 she became part of The Gate Theatre’s Jerwood Young Designers. Her work Idomeneus (Gate Theatre) has been selected by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, to become part of their archive. It was also one of the 10 best theatre productions of 2014 by Lyn Gardner, The Guardian. Her work for DOMESTICA (Sleepwalk Collective) and Sappho…in 9 Fragments represented Spain in the Prague Quadrennial of Scenography 2015. Some of her most recent work includes, The Echo Chamber (Young Vic Theatre), LeLa & Co (Royal Court Theatre) selected by the Guardian and Huffintong Post as one of the Top 10 Theatre Productions of 2015 in the UK, Another Love (Winner of Best International Short Film in more than 5 festivals and is among the official selection of Cannes Film Festival). Recently she has received the Spirit of Dundee Award, for her costume design, IGNISat Dundee Weareable Art Competition. She has been selected in the Design category to represent  Spanish Talent in the campaign “Hechos de Talento” in more than 15 countries all over the world in 2016.
