Elayce Ismail

Director

Elayce Ismail is a director and dramaturg, working in the UK and internationally across theatre, opera and film. She is Artistic Associate at Music Theatre Wales and has previously been Associate Director at Northern Stage in Newcastle and a Resident Director at the National Theatre in London. For HighTide/Soho Theatre, Elayce directed Girls by Theresa Ikoko, which premiered at HighTide in Aldeburgh ahead of two national tours and the British Council Edinburgh Showcase. Other theatre direction includes: Calvino Nights (Minack Theatre), Love and Other Acts of Violence (Donmar Warehouse); Shedding a Skin (Soho Theatre); Nanjing (Shakespeare’s Globe); Under Milk Wood, The War of the Worlds (Northern Stage); Stay Another Song (Young Vic).

 Opera includes: 4:48 Psychosis (Ensemble intercontemporain/Philharmonie de Paris); Our Dark Side and The Moon (Royal Opera House, also as librettist); They Whisper Don’t Gaze at the Stars… (ENO).
